Gravestone Inscriptions

Sometimes, on their family headstones, people would put an inscription to relatives lost in war and buried elsewhere. This page shows some of these headstones and inscriptions which are in both New Cumnock Old Church Old Cemetery (Auld Kirkyard) and New Cumnock Old Cemetery (Afton Road)

The numbers quoted are not plot numbers but reference numbers from "Pre 1918 Gravestone Inscriptions from Cumnock and Doon Valley District - Volume 3" which is held in the Burns Memorial Centre, Kilmarnock. A plan of which can be seen on the New Cumnock website of Mr Robert Guthrie which also uses these numbers.
